“I was recently robbed of about $80,000, a huge sum of money for me. The crime was committed by someone I had helped, and the Seeds community had helped, through our Community Fund.

The local cops, the FBI, and the insurance company only made things worse. Every institution we’re told to rely on when something bad happens failed.

It took me ~7 weeks to get an FBI agent to speak with me, after the local cops finally communicated that the FBI was more equipped to help…but that agent told me that I hadn’t had enough money stolen to merit their time.

When I asked him how he slept at night, knowing that he only helps the rich, he hung up on me.

But I really do believe this can all be for the higher good. I think this happened to remind me that I have to be brave enough to ask for more help and support, and it must be habitual, rather than something I only force myself to do when I’m backed into a corner and I see no other options. I am worthy of receiving help when I need it, and Seeds is too. And so are you. 💗

I had used the funds that were stolen to sustain myself so that Seeds would not have to pay me a salary (I haven’t taken one in a long time). Over the years, I’ve contributed most of my personal money to Seeds, keeping it going through homelessness, when a friend and I were held in a Nairobi jail without cause, and through a thousand other smaller challenges.

Because of this theft, I can’t afford to do that now. So I need to use Seeds to humbly ask for your help. $5667.65 USD a month covers my basic expenses, and I’ve asked for 4 months worth. I think that will give me enough time to create additional revenue streams to sustain myself, and to buoy Seeds as well.
