happy holidays! π wanted to make sure you saw this because it got me a free ~$3400β¦
Happy Holidays! Hopefully the below will help you out this time of year.
So in October, I posted in our community Discord about the TIA airdrop, making sure folks in our Cryptocurrency & How to Trade It course were aware.
If you're not familiar with the term 'airdrop,' it essentially means free money. These days airdrops are typically given to those who stake cryptocurrency on decentralized platforms like Uniswap.
When I claimed this airdrop, I was shown this:
Then I forgot about it.
Two days ago, I checked in to see how TIA was performing on the market, and to determine exactly how much TIA I'd received, and I saw this:
I traded it a bit, and managed to sell the TIA near its all-time highs yesterday, netting a total of about $3400 in surprise free funds.
I try to do my best to share about opportunities like these when I find them, and other folks in our community have been kind enough to do so in the past as well. If you want to stay updated regarding what we as a community know so that you can benefit from airdrops as well, the Discord is a useful spot, and it can be even more helpful to join the Cryptocurrency & How to Trade It course (but more on that when it's offered live again in 2024).
So yeah - if you've previously staked, claimed some TIA, and haven't yet checked to see how it's doing, now is a pretty good time. If you want to learn how to stake, I have a short demo video here, which also explains how staking functions as a tool to help those in need when you do so in the SEEDS-ETH pool.
Last thing - we're terribly far away from reaching our $10K monthly recurring gift goal by year's end, hovering at about $8400 to go.
I keep finding myself reminded of how I felt/what I was doing in late 2019 and into early 2020, in terms of a sort of sense of impotence. I was trying to reach giving folks to encourage them to engage with SEEDS before the market headed back up, as its done historically with every Bitcoin halvening - and the next halvening is projected to happen in less than 4 months.
And so my 2024 resolution is to connect with as many like-minded collaborators as possible, to make sure an awareness of Seeds is aligning with other giving people who know late-stage capitalism isn't working, who resonate with mutual aid, who sense a greater shift away from centralized power and control.
If that's you and you're able to give, wonderful! If you're able to share about Seeds with folks like I describe above, terrific. As ever, when you give, you'll receive SEEDS cryptocurrency in thanks.
In previous posts, I shared more specifics about the impact our community had in 2023, and I've included that again below.
People don't always have photos and social media-ready blurbs when expressing these needs - Seeds has helped sexual assault victims who needed to remain anonymous, for example, which is work that is close to my heart as someone who has experienced SA.
The Seeds ecosystem is meant to be a mutual aid pool that you can use for anything. Even filling up a tank of gas, or whatever. So when you need something - please don't hesitate to ask. Your self-care is important.

This is Kana Piath. She lives in Juba, South Sudan. She wants to be a doctor when she grows up, but didn't have the money to cover mandatory primary school fees.
She lost her father and mother, and so she lives with her disabled grandmother.
Her grandma made a TikTok for us to share about Kana's need. That's Kana standing behind her.
Thanks to our givers, our community was able to fulfill Kana Piath's request. We were told that she was so happy that she woke up the next day at 6:00 AM and ran to school to catch up with her classmates.
Per the below: Malek County, South Sudan was devastated by communal conflict for 8 years. After the war ended, people came back to the village to build life again.
The United Nations Mission dug the a hand pump well for the villagersβ¦but then the mission left, and women and girls were forced to stand in mud and dirty water to retrieve the clean water essential to them and their families.
So they redeemed a SEED to ask for the funds to plaster the area, and our community met their need. We sent the monetary gift directly to their mobile phones, bypassing banks that exclude them because their government doesn't issue women IDs.
I feel especially happy about this fulfilled request. Though governments, banks and traditional aid came up short, our community was able to step in to improve lives.
Below is Onnissia, a Brooklyn-based artist who had started a GoFundMe campaign to support a then-upcoming residency.
She was showing her work at an LA art fair, and spoke with another artist there (yay Ryen!) about how her GoFundMe hadn't met its goal, though her residency was meant to start very soon.
Ryen told her about Seeds, and redeemed a SEED on Onnissia's behalf to help. Our community was then able to source the funds to meet Onnissia's need.
Thank you to everyone who has done anything at all to bring more kindness, more generosity, and more hope through this community.
May 2024 bring greater abundance - for all of us.
xo,
Rachel
